Ramblings

So this past week the babe got her first tooth, yet I am so saddened by this momentous event. When Eddy Haskel was a babe I kept wanting him to reach the "mile-stones", I could not wait for him to roll over, sit up, eat solids, crawl, walk, and talk; but with Baby Gnat I just want her to stay little and precious. I get sad when I have to pack up the baby swing, and those outfits that do not fit anymore. I am saddened by the fact that this week along with her new tooth she is starting to show signs of wanting to crawl. I loved the small helpless version of Baby Gnat, I look at 9 year old Eddy Haskel and think how rapid those nine years have passed, how nine years from now when Baby Gnat is no longer a babe and she is nine how my nine year old will be 18, old enough to be registered to vote and old enough to be tried as an adult. These years they go by so fast, I just sit here and enjoy the time I have with them, especially the time right now.

Life is lived "in the moment." Can't recapture the past. Can't rush the future. Enjoy the now! Trust me, as one who has a 22, 25 and 27 year old... I understand. But each age holds precious moments of its own.

Hollow words? Maybe. Life on earth is a mere blink. I thank God for the promise of forever with Him ... and with my kids! It makes all the difference.

So, is that your way of mentally preparing that Eddy Haskel will be tried as an adult when he's 18? It's good to be prepared for those kinds of things.

Boy, I was the opposite of you with my guys. When Big M. was a baby, I just wanted him to stay little and snuggly and dependent on me. With Little M., I wanted that baby stuff over and done with so we could get to where we are now. Maybe that's because Big M. slept through the night at 7 weeks and was the world's easiest baby to take care of. With Little M., I got a total of 3 hours sleep in his first year and felt like he was permanently attached to my boob! Funny how opinions can change, huh?

Congrats to Baby Gnat on that tooth!
