This Old House

I am seriously getting tired of this house. Everything in this house is falling apart. It is falling apart because the house is over 100 years old. I love the house's charm, it has original unpainted woodwork in all but two rooms, it has over 12 rooms, over 40 windows, and a ton of space for my family and all of our junk great stuff. BUT.... (oh where do I begin) the front porch is so crooked that from the street it appears to be falling off the corner of the house, our house has little or no insulation; we had a $600 heating bill our first winter here. Our house has a very creepy, sort of moldy, wet- like basement. The floor throught-out is mud dirt. It smells like an empty rotting old space. It will cost one zillion dollars to fix the basement.
We have removed all the wall paper but for one room and some decoupage in the kitchen. (Previous owners actually cut out flowers from a printed wall paper and wall papered those to the wall, way up high in our kitchen) you know the one advertised as having custom built cabinets. Yeah for Robert Wadlow, ( World's Tallest Man, from my home town), I digress. Yup, those custom cabinets hardly hold any pantry items, canned goods, and dry goods. There is a built in ironing center right in the middle of said cabinets, and like I said I have to get out a ten foot ladder to reach the top shelf. The actual counter space is quite deceiving also, as you place various appliances and stuff on said counters you loose said space. But, then there is no room in the 'custom' cabinets for said appliances, and thus a vicious cycle.
The lay out of this house is sort of nice, but on the other hand when the Brady Bunch that lived here before went to renovate, why the HECK did they organize it in this way? The upstairs bathroom has 3 doors, each exiting into a different room. In the whole house there is but one room and the attic that do not have at least two doors. My closet leads to the foyer and my room, my room leads to the dinning room, a bath room, a closet, and our foyer, as mentioned before the kids' rooms are connected by 3 doors to the pink bathroom.
The laundry room is an old sun porch that they put a little siding on and called it another room. It has a very small bathroom, a work sink, and hook up for washer and dryer, the only problem is that the room is long and narrow and can't be used for much more than laundry and in the winter your feet could possibly freeze to the floor, and in the summer time, you have to take the wet laundry out of the washer as soon as it beeps because the heat and wet would cause my clean clothes to grow mold in a matter of minutes.
We have replaced many things in our short time here, like a hot water heater, a refrigerator, a garbage disposal, a front door, a back door, a leak down stairs from the upstairs bathroom, we've skim coated the walls where we have removed wallpaper and we have removed a huge fish pond in the back yard.
We are slowly reclaiming our house as our own, but I want a newer house a smaller house, shhh yeah I really said that, I want a house with space, I will keep dreaming and buying one dollar lottery tickets, and until then I will try and keep this bad boy cleaner and more clutter free.

has it already been a year

So this is where life has taken me one year later: I am a stay at home mom, I love being home, I love taking care of all the mundane chore life sends our way. I have recently contemplated deleting my facebook page. I love seeing each of my friends and watching their families grow, but sometimes I feel like its old news to actually tell someone something interesting that has happened in your life, rather than having them say to you "yeah, I saw that on facebook".
I feel tied down to my computer or phone which ever, looking at status, brewing over stupid shit that if I were not meddling somehow I would never know, hence the never bothering me part. I LOVE to be SNARKY I LOVE to LURK, but I have run into people and things on the interwebz that are kinda freaky (not phreaky) and kinda creepy.
I have considered getting an incognito profile so that I can still follow all the news, music, and funny ass blogs I follow on facebook, and most importantly so I can be SNARKY with my BFFs Baker, Earth Muffin, and J & B's Mom.
I like the idea of facebook, I like being able to catch up with old friends, re-uniting with friends from college and before, but I get so wrapped up in family drama, and that impacts my family. Like I said before I want to be there for my kids not making status updates all the time. Well whatevs, I know hardly any one reads this but it felt good to put this out there for comments, reactions, concerns, or nothing at all
Like I said it's been almost a year since my last blog, I feel better, I look better down 40 pounds, and I like myself, and I feel like I am doing good by my family and if I die tomorrow I do not regret staying home and not working at all.
