We have removed all the wall paper but for one room and some decoupage in the kitchen. (Previous owners actually cut out flowers from a printed wall paper and wall papered those to the wall, way up high in our kitchen) you know the one advertised as having custom built cabinets. Yeah for Robert Wadlow, ( World's Tallest Man, from my home town), I digress. Yup, those custom cabinets hardly hold any pantry items, canned goods, and dry goods. There is a built in ironing center right in the middle of said cabinets, and like I said I have to get out a ten foot ladder to reach the top shelf. The actual counter space is quite deceiving also, as you place various appliances and stuff on said counters you loose said space. But, then there is no room in the 'custom' cabinets for said appliances, and thus a vicious cycle.
The lay out of this house is sort of nice, but on the other hand when the Brady Bunch that lived here before went to renovate, why the HECK did they organize it in this way? The upstairs bathroom has 3 doors, each exiting into a different room. In the whole house there is but one room and the attic that do not have at least two doors. My closet leads to the foyer and my room, my room leads to the dinning room, a bath room, a closet, and our foyer, as mentioned before the kids' rooms are connected by 3 doors to the pink bathroom.
The laundry room is an old sun porch that they put a little siding on and called it another room. It has a very small bathroom, a work sink, and hook up for washer and dryer, the only problem is that the room is long and narrow and can't be used for much more than laundry and in the winter your feet could possibly freeze to the floor, and in the summer time, you have to take the wet laundry out of the washer as soon as it beeps because the heat and wet would cause my clean clothes to grow mold in a matter of minutes.
We have replaced many things in our short time here, like a hot water heater, a refrigerator, a garbage disposal, a front door, a back door, a leak down stairs from the upstairs bathroom, we've skim coated the walls where we have removed wallpaper and we have removed a huge fish pond in the back yard.
We are slowly reclaiming our house as our own, but I want a newer house a smaller house, shhh yeah I really said that, I want a house with space, I will keep dreaming and buying one dollar lottery tickets, and until then I will try and keep this bad boy cleaner and more clutter free.
