The Holidays are a very stressful time of year, and now that I am older I understand this. First of all there is getting all the presents in order, presents for the kids, from the parents and from Santa. Then there is the business of getting Santa paper and having someone else write the tags for the said presents. Then one needs to have parents presents from Santa to make things more "real". There is also the business of the Holiday Greeting, I believe that Holiday greetings should include winter solstice, but as per my significant other I am a Druid Pagan. I go to do the photo shoot, and Eddy Haskel needs a haircut and he keeps holding his sis the wrong way. So we do the photo shoot later, after a few glasses of wine. The wine induced photo shoot is much better.
The cards turn out great as do the photos.
Then there is the issue of FAMILY. So my husband's family is coming to visit for the Christmas Holidays. They caused me stress when they lived here in Illinois, now they are coming to visit from California. (Like 2 years in California has changed these folks.) Yeah the same folks that did not know that an Oil Tanker crashed into the Golden Gate Bridge a few weeks ago, yeah these people are really with it.
Anyway they have been in town for a few weeks now, we saw them at Christmas and on Christmas day, and have not seen them since, yeah they have been hanging out at my mother in law's house ever since. I know that my sister in laws father passed away recently but the whole point of them coming to visit us, was for them to visit with us, all of the family.
So at this point in my blog I would love to write them a letter:
Dear Family,
I know you hate Illinois, I know you love being hooked up to all multimedia, and I know you love having your children hooked up to multimedia so that they are not responsive, this includes your baby. Yeah she is a baby, she needs you to interact with her. So I hope you have had a great vacation here in COLD FREEZING ILLINOIS, considering you used to live here, and yeah sister in law you used to live in WISCONSON, so cold is not an excuse.
Family we would have loved to have spent more time with you and your family, your children are our cousins, and my Eddy Haskel thinks your kids are the greatest, too bad he barely got to spend time with you!
Have fun in San Fran being GREEN, as I know you hate it!!
Happy Holidays and boy am I glad they are almost over. I go back to work tomorrow.

I, too, am well versed in the ways of annoying in-laws. I got lucky this year and was writhing in pain and bleeding during Christmas, so I got to nap most of the day while the in-law craziness raged on below me. hahahaha
p.s. Loved your winter solstice card, what a cute idea!
